Downloading language packs before departure can reduce mobile-data use and keep basic translation available in areas with weak coverage. Offline support varies by app, language, phone, and translation feature.
Download the languages on Wi-Fi
- Open your translation app while connected to trusted Wi-Fi.
- Select both your language and the destination language.
- Tap the download icon where available.
- Wait for the download to finish before leaving Wi-Fi.
Google Translate advises downloading language packs on Wi-Fi. If no download icon appears, that language may not be available offline.
Test the app without internet
Turn on Airplane Mode, leave Wi-Fi off, and test several useful phrases. Try text, speech, and camera translation separately. A downloaded language may support basic text while a live feature still needs internet access.
Prepare important phrases
Save hotel addresses, allergy information, emergency phrases, transport questions, and booking details. Keep screenshots as a backup. Update downloaded packs before travel, because older packs may offer lower-quality results.
Keep some mobile data available
Offline translation is useful, but do not assume every conversation or camera feature will work without a connection. Reserve data for live translation and essential searches. Combine this with offline maps and our travel data planning guide.
Check consumption using our remaining-data instructions. If the allowance is exhausted, purchase a new plan. For eSIM help, contact official@easytripgo.com or WhatsApp.
